In modern production both functional and cosmetic defects must be detected. Automatic Visual Inspection (AVI) of the product therefore becomes a necessity.

A general inspection system must be flexible enough to inspect different objects and situations without reprogramming or  recompiling the  whole system.

TrollInspect is an attempt to solve these problems by developing a general visual inspection environment which is easy to install, adapt, and support.   This is achieved by offering the possibility to tailor make inspection modules (.dll) for the task at hand.

TrollInspect works in two modes; set up mode where tailor made modules covering related classes of problems can be selected and parameters adjusted according to the task at hand, and monitoring mode where the actual inspection is done based on the set up.

In addition special modules may be selected dependent on the hardware available and the actions to be performed as a result of the monitoring.
